Symptoms of Acne
Symptoms of acne are apparent and can be recognized by the bumps and red spots on the skin
The symptoms of acne are apparent to the eyes and it occurs for both men and women. The most common symptoms are perennial and relentless redness on the skin and possible swelling from which acne can be identified. It usually occurs in the face, neck upper back, arms and shoulders. Some of the symptoms which includes:
-Dark spots on the skin
-Scarring
-Redness of skin, lesions and bumps
-Pus formed bubble on the skin
-Itchiness round the affected area and pain
-Lack of Social cohesion
-Diabetes
-Mentally disturbed feeling
Some of the other symptoms one might come across are:
-Whiteheads (White lumps on the skin also referred to as closed comedones
-Blackheads (dark spots on the skin)
-Pustule
-Papule
-Nodules
-Lesions
-Cysts
Types of Acne
Usually the acne is categorized into two: Inflammatory and non-inflammatory.
Non-inflammatory acne is less severe and can be cured with prescriptions; whereas the inflammatory acne is severe it forms cysts, red spots on the skin, at times it leaves a permanent trace on the face.
Non-Inflamed Acne
Non-inflamed acne occurs in the form of comedones and blackheads. These are neither red nor painful contrary to the inflamed acne. A person who suffers non-inflamed acne sees blackheads and comedones. Even if it is not visible one can able to recognize that by the skin which looks dry and rough. It can be felt by the bumps that appear on the skin.
Types of Non-Inflamed Acne
Although not all the acne sufferers’ experiences inflamed acne but all acne affected people feels some form of non-inflamed acne. Let’s see some of the types of non-inflamed acne:
-Soft closed Comedones
-Hard closed Comedones
-Open Comedones
-Micro Comedones
Soft Closed Comedones
Soft closed comedones present at the limps on the skin which is neither red nor painful. Treatment is applicable for this kind of comedones by reducing excess oil and dead cells usually by extracting the comedones by pressing it out. It mitigates the chances of occurrence of inflamed acne breakouts.
Hard Closed Comedones
These comedones are called 'milia' has whiter heads which is not red or painful appears normally on the surroundings of eye. White head does not consist of pus but a collection of dead cells.Dermatologists often treated it by creating a dent on the lesion to bring out milia.
Open Comedones
Open comedones are apparent to the eyes due to its black or dark brown color. The appearance of black head is due to the mass of dead cells and also the oil gets darken when exposed to air. It can be evacuated by giving gentle pressure to the opening.
Micro comedones
Most of the acne sufferers go through many micro comedones despite of the fact it is small and difficult to see through naked eye. It occurs at the beginning stage of the lesion. It can be treated by reducing the excess oil as similar in the process of soft closed comedones. It prevents the occurrence of dead skin cells and the possible occurrence of inflamed comedones.
Types of inflamed Acne
Unlike the non-inflamed Acne, it looks red in color and is severally painful. Let us look at the types of the inflamed acne:
-Papules
-Pustules
-Nodules
-Cysts
Papules
Papules are red in color and it is an inflamed lesion which does not contain any whitehead or pus. In most cases papules heal without causing any kind of scarring but sometimes it advances into pustules. It should not be squeezed or broken.
Pustules
Pustules also looks red in color but with a white head and inflamed. The head of the lesion is brown in color with pus filled-in that notifies the occurrence of comedones.
In most cases it can be treated with some of the cleansers and benzoyl peroxide which is a follow of papules.
Nodules
Nodules are large in size which appears on the skin presents deep within the layer of the skin where the papules are present on the upper layer. It can be identified with the huge lumps on the skin. It is advised not to squeeze the pimple as it leads to severe scarring.
Cysts
Cysts are the largest in size among this inflamed acne. It is very painful and exists on the skin in the form of lumps filled with pus. As it is deeply routed it causes damage to the skin which can leave a permanent scarring. It is advised to consult the dermatologist immediately when the breakout happens.
